Emma Woodhouse felt doll
I enjoyed making Lizzie's Regency costume so much that I decided to make another Austen doll today. I'm really fondest of Anne Eliot, but I realized that if I made Emma instead I could dress her up a little more.

I want every doll I make from now on to have a hat, or a bonnet. It's so much fun figuring out how to make them, I can't tell you.

Her hair is absolutely unique in the history of my dolls and I kinda love it.

Back of the bonnet.

It's difficult, for a person like me who hasn't really made a formal study of the costumes of the period, to come up with a bonnet that suggests gentlewoman instead of dairy maid, but I think I managed it by rounding the edges.

Aaaaand finally, Emma with Lizzie.

So, what next? Elinor and Marianne?

ELINOR AND MARIANNE YES PLS.

The Bingley sisters might be fun, too. Feathers, beads and bits and bobs.

Started Caroline today! Feathers are way too much fun to work with.

Your dolls get steadily more awesome. Book!Emma has dark hair, but most people will be more familiar with the Gwyneth Paltrow version anyway. (And I confess that I myself tend to see Emma as blonde even though I had read the book before I saw the movie.)

Emma is actually the only Austen book I don't own, and that includes her juvenilia and unfinished work. I had forgotten the dark hair, but I do seem to be modeling everyone's appearance off their movie features.

She has a certain...blonde quality.

I agree with [info]lizbee, the Bingley sisters would be way fun. You could break out the beads and feathers!

Maybe you could do more Bennets?

A set of five little Bennetts all in a row has a tremendous amount of aesthetic appeal...

I've stopped by your journal periodically and marveled at your dolls, so I think I must friend you here. If only I made more than $32/week I would immediately buy Peter and Harriet. I wonder if I could coax an early birthday present out of anyone?

:-D Well it would certainly do my heart good to send Peter and Harriet off to someone whose username indicates a proper degree of obsession. Actually, it's rare for me to hold on to a doll for very long before someone buys them and I've been toying with offering discounts on some of the older unsold dolls. Is there a price at which you would consider them?
harriet_wimsey[info]harriet_wimsey on March 14th, 2007 02:02 am (UTC)
I soooo don't have the money, but I'd probably buy them anyway for $30. Your Peter is just perfect, and Harriet is pretty divine herself. And as a fellow library student (who doesn't enjoy library school) I feel I should show some solidarity!

:-D Then they're yours for $30 if you want them.

OK, I'll do it. It's hey dot branwyn at gmail via paypal, right? Should I email you my address, then?

Heart them both :) I'd vote for a set of the Bennett girls, with a pair of glasses for Mary.

That was me, I fail at signing in.

That would be lots of fun, though I wonder how I would distinguish between Lydia and Kitty...

Seconding the Elinor and Marianne request! (Would like a real Col. Brandon to go with them, but he's not mandatory. ^_~)

Making Col. Brandon would be rather fun---a nice red coat. Hmm...
